WandaVision Review

As a fan of Marvel films, I was excited when I was allowed to represent VIVA to be one of the first to watch the first three episodes of WandaVision. This series is eagerly awaited by fans because it opens the fourth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

The first episode begins with a black and white scene where a newly married couple, Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany), drive a classic Chevrolet to their new suburban home. Away from the hustle-bustle of the big city.

“This is our home now. I want us to adjust,” said Wanda to her husband.

The following scenes tell how Wanda and Vision, two superheroes with extraordinary powers, try to adjust to a life that seems normal to most people.

As a husband, Vision worked for a computer technology company. Meanwhile, Wanda is a housewife who takes care of her husband, cooks, and does other household chores.

The two are also said to have started hanging out with neighbors and members of the neighborhood community where they live. From joining housewives’ clubs to participating in charity events.

Despite trying to hide their true identities, Wanda and Vision still couldn’t help but use their strength to do homework or even move from one room to another by breaking through walls as Vision did.

However, gradually, mysterious things happened. Wanda and Vision began to suspect that everything in their new life was not what they saw.

In a global press conference held online and attended by VIVA recently, the President of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, has said that WandaVision is different from previous Marvel films.

This series takes the classic 1950s American sitcom’s big theme, which is full of comedy and slapstick humor, but of course, made in an MCU version full of puzzles and surprises.

“This is a combination of classic sitcoms and large-scale Marvel action,” said the director, Matt Shakman, who was also present at the press conference.

Meanwhile, the Head Writer, Jac Schaeffer, revealed that the WandaVision timeline takes place right after Avengers: Endgame.

He also opens his voice about what the audience can expect before watching this series, which is funny, mysterious, and full of action.

“Marvel fans have never seen Wanda and Vision like this before. Their stories are very romantic and tragic. It’s what sticks in the hearts of fans. In this series, we can see them under the domestic spotlight, and they can breathe. It’s wonderful,” he said.

Apart from Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany, the nine-episode series also stars Kathryn Hahn as Agnes and Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau, who makes her first appearance Captain Marvel.

Kat Dennings returns to play his role as Darcy from Thor and Thor: The Dark World and Randall Park also returns to play his role as Jimmy Woo from Ant-Man and The Wasp.

WandaVision is guaranteed to be different from what fans previously imagined. However, despite choosing a completely different theme to tell the superhero story, Marvel has arguably succeeded in giving a new color to the MCU.

Even though it’s wrapped in a classic US sitcom, WandaVision still has a unique Marvel charm that makes fans addicted to watching it. What’s more, there are new puzzles in each episode, waiting to be revealed.

Have fun solving the WandaVision puzzles and discover the secrets that await at the end of the series.

WandaVision starts today, Friday, January 15, 2021, on Disney + Hotstar.
