The printer is dressed up in a practical but unexciting light and dark grey situation; the printer has a chamfered front side, right into which a simple control board is set. This has a 2-line by 16-character, backlit LCD and six switches for menu navigating and to abort present print jobs.

Lexmark E360dn Review
Near the bottom of the front panel is a 250-sheet paper tray, and there is an instead troublesome looking, 50-sheet multi-purpose tray that folds up down and draws out of over that. You can include a 250-sheet or a 500-sheet tray as a device, but just one extra tray can be equipped.
At the back are three sockets for USB, 10/100 Ethernet and identical links. The last of these exist to ensure minimal interruption in traditional setups.
Folding down the entire front panel gives access to the two-piece drum and printer toner cartridge. Locating the cartridge and sliding it right into the printer is more uncomfortable than some competitors. You need to put in a reasonable quantity of force to put it in position. On the other hand, dividing the drum from the printer toner cartridge is much easier, and you can change up to 8 cartridges before the drum needs renewing.
Lexmark provides the driver for Home windows and OS X and consists of PCL and PostScript emulations. Linux support is available through downloads for Linpus, Red Hat, Suse, Linspire, Debian, Red Flag and Ubuntu, an excellent cross-section of distributions. Unfortunately, there is little various other software, other than a network monitor applet.
Lexmark prices the E360dn at up to 38ppm. We find it hard to see how the company could have reached this type of number. Our five-page text document took 25s to complete, giving a rate of 12ppm and switching to prepare to set just improved it by 0.5ppm. The 20-page document produced a greater speed, but still just 14ppm.
Despite its fast USB link, the printer faltered slightly every few web pages. While this would not represent the missing out on 24ppm, the five-copy, single-page text and video test didn’t show this hesitation and gave 16.7ppm. In addition, duplex print is remarkably fast, at 13.5 sides each min.
Lexmark lasers usually give excellent print, and the E360dn measures up to the reputation. Text is crisp and thick, with no sign of any spatter. The default resolution of 1,200dpi means contours and diagonals are smooth and clean, and fill patterns are typically great.

The video in our text and web page was well recreated, and the greyscales standing for various colors are easily distinguishable ─ never constantly the situation. Grey fills are a bit banded, which is more visible in the picture print; however, it is not that obtrusive for a mono laser.
The operating costs are comprised of 2 elements, the photoconductor drum and printer toner cartridge. The drum is designed to print 30,000 web pages, and the printer toner cartridge is available in 2 yields: 3,500 web pages and 9,000 web pages. The typical costs of both consumables give a web page cost of 2.8p, which is approximately mid-way between the most affordable and highest operating costs for the mono lasers we’ve looked at.
Although Lexmark supplies a beginner cartridge with this printer, it is uncommonly a high-yield one, giving a complete 9,000 web pages, so you will not need to nip out and restore it after a couple of weeks of use.
There are two variations of the cartridges, Normal and Return Program. For some years, Lexmark has offered discounted variations of its consumables under this program if you undertake to return the used components to the company. This assists with its reusing program and, of course, makes it harder for third-party providers to obtain hold of authentic parts for remanufacturing.
